Scheldegas is running at full speed! (2009)

Scheldegas is the working name for the construction of a natural gas pipeline between Wijngaarden and Ossendrecht. This project is one of the largest and most technically demanding projects for de NV Nederlandse Gasunie. The pipeline has a total length of 75 km and a diameter of 48”.

This project fits into the larger “North-South Project” or the “gas hub” that Gasunie will install in the next few years, a huge pipeline project without precedent in our region: more than three hundred kilometres of underground pipelines are being constructed and many valve locations, measuring and control stations and even some compressor stations are to be established. All of this in a period of just a few years.

The route section from Wijngaarden to Ossendrecht started on 16 March 2009 and the pipeline must be carrying gas by 1 October 2010.
